چکیده

The existing data for hadron structure functions, F 2 (x, Q 2), show considerable Q 2-dependence, which is mainly attributed to the QCD logarithmic corrections to Bjorken scaling. However, at x → 1 the scaling violations are dominated by power corrections ∝ 1/Q 2 (higher twist and target mass effects):

Confinement and the Transverse Lattice∗

Deep inelastic lepton-hadron scattering has played a fundamental role in the investigation of hadron structure. For example, the discovery of Bjorken scaling confirmed the existence of point-like charged objects inside the nucleon (quarks). Besides such fundamental discoveries, deep inelastic scattering (DIS) revealed surprising and interesting details about the structure of nucleons and nuclei...

Deep Inelastic Electropion Production*

This paper is devoted to a study of possible scaling laws, and their logarithmic corrections, occurring in deep inelastic electropion production. Both the exclusive and semiexclusive processes are considered. Scaling laws, originally motivated from PCAC and current algebra considerations are examined, first in the framework of the parton model and QCD peturbation theory and then from the more f...

Flux Independent Measurements of Deep Inelastic Neutrino Processes

2 BP The scaling variable v = xy = 2(Ep/M) sin 2 is useful for the description of deep inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering processes. This variable is determined solely by the momentum and angle of the outgoing lepton. The normalized scattering distribution in this variable is independent of incident lepton energy and flux, provided scale-invariance is valid. The sensitivity to various hypoth...

Confinement and scaling in deep inelastic scattering.

We show that parton confinement in the final state generates large 1/Q2 corrections to Bjorken scaling, thus leaving less room for the logarithmic corrections. In particular, the x-scaling violations at large x are entirely described in terms of power corrections. For treatment of these non-perturbative effects, we derive a new expansion in powers of 1/Q2 for the structure function that is free...

The Hard Gluon Component of the Qcd Pomeron

We argue that deep-inelastic diffractive scaling provides fundamental insight into the QCD Pomeron. The logarithmic scaling violations seen experimentally are in conflict with the scale-invariance of the BFKL Pomeron and with phenomenological two-gluon models. Instead the Pomeron appears as a single gluon at short-distances, indicating the appearance of a Super-Critical phase of Reggeon Field T...
